This is a paper from a Risk Management company going over the risks posed by the Anti-Fracking movement. There have been bans of hydraulic fracturing in some places - and as the paper says, an understanding of the movement is important for policy makers and business leaders. But the purpose of this is planning on how to deflect those criticisms rather than properly address them.
The movement as a whole falls into four broad camps:
- those desiring a better deal from the gas industry;
- those advocating further study into the environmental and economic impacts of unconventional gas development;
- those demanding a complete ban on hydraulic fracturing;
- and in the majority those demanding tighter regulation of gas development
